Bomb, January 16.
The Irish Bishops who were present at the celebration of the Papal jubilee have had an audience with the Pope. His Holiness exhorted them to use their influence m restoring respect for tbe law m Ireland, at the same time pointing out that violence would never succeed ih obtaining the end desired.

Mr Parnell declares that it will be politic to facilitate English legislation! rather than to retard it, for then the Unionists and Conservatives would be certain to disagree. He also advises an agitation f r the reduction of the term of judicial rents to five years. Continued interest is being manifested m the mission' of the Duke of Norfolk to the Vatican. It is rumored that he has been parleying for the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Vatican and England, on the condition that the Pope will intervene with respect to Ireland. Mr A. J. Balfour, Chief Secretary for Ireland, emphatically denies that there is any truth m the rumor*
London, January 17.
It has transpired that Mr Jasper Pyne has effected his escape to England. Mr Pyne, who is member for West Waterford, was charged with inciting resistance to the Sheriff, and, m order to prevent beiog arrested, fortified his residence, Lisfarny Castle, and after holding out for some time, succeeded m escaping.
Dublin, January 17. A monster meeting has been held at Archill, an island off the west coast of Ireland, County Mayo. The police were stoned by the mob, and were ordered to fire, but by the efforts of the priests, Dr Tanner M.P., and Mr John Deary, M.P., for West Mayo, bloodshed was prevented with difficulty.
