Following np his commission from Mr ! Walter Sootfc, Mr Douglas B. W. Sladen has received from Griffith, Farran, and I Co., of London and Sydiey, his own publishers., a commission to prepare a selection from Australian and Now Zea> land poems, on a moat comprehensive plan. The volume will be a handsome octavo of 500 pages to be published, we believe, at 3s 6d, and tbe pieces are not limited to' 1 bash" pieces, though those with a distlnot Australian flsvor aboat tnem will be more acceptable. Any Australian or New Zealand Colonist Is eligible for representation, though he msy only have written one poem, if that poem be of sufficient merit, The editor will undertake to read anything printed, whether a volume or a newspaper cutting ; but he cannot return contributions, or promise to persevere with manuscript difficult to decipher. Poems should be sent m print to ensure their being read. Those willing to do so are requested to send short biographies of themselves Contributions mast be addressed to Douglas B. W. Sladen, care of Griffith, Farran, and Co., St. Paul's Churchyard, London, and should reach them by tbe second week m Febrnary, as the volumo goes to press on February 19. 1888.
