Auckland, January 11. An amuilng incident occurred junt before the departure of the lact mail steamer for 'Frlsoo. A tradesman went down to the wharf for a atroll, and seeing the mail steamer at the end of tha Quay, waa about to step on board for a to ir of impoction, bat was slopped at the gat gray and informed that vUttora were not allowed on board. Intent on making the beat of things, he proceeded to run his eye over tbe ahtp from an outtlder'a point of view, and somewhat to bia surprise obierved tho partner of his joys and sorrows standing on the deck. He nodded to he pleaiantly, and she responded with a bow, but did not look over pleased. He apoke to her and expressed surprise that she did not come ashore when " visitors were not allowed,' 1 but got no reply, After aome further conversation the good dame flatly refused to leave the vessel. Her husband (or pad his way on board, and by tatber forcible mtasurea eventutually made her go home.
