Serious robberies have been reported to the police as having taken plaoa last night m the harbor. The yachts Rita and Maritana were looted and a quantity of silver pate stolen from the latter, whilst the y&oht Malua Is missing, and believed to have been taken by the robbers. A party has gone out to search for tbe latter veasul. Wellington Deoember 29. The proposal to bring a team of English footballers to New Zealand will be further considered by tho Wellington Rugby Union after the holidays. The Wellington Cricket Association will send a team to Chrlstohurch about the 20th January. They are also endeavoring to arrange a match v»ith Otago. Oama.ru, Deoember 29. A four-roomed cottage at Kakanul was destroyed by fire on Wednesday night. The insurance was £70 m the National offioe on the houso aud furniture.
