AUCTIONEER'S REPORT
♦ Mr Peter Williams (for Frie .lander BroB.) reports for the week ending Tuesday, the 20th December, 1887 :— On Saturday, the 17th inst., we held our weekly sale of horses at our East street Horee Bazaar. There was a medium entry and an average attendance of farmers and others. Thore was a fair demand for medium draughts, as a few are wanted by farmers for harvest work. We sold medium draughts „14 10s, £15 10s, £16, £17 and £18 ; inferior, £10 and £10 10s. Pias.— Sows, 12s, 16s to 20s ; porkers, 16s ; Blips, 9s to 16s, with a good demand, all lots being weU competed for, FouLta_— Turkeys, 6a 6d to 8a eaoh j duoka, 33 per pair ; geese, 7b 6d per pair. Prodoo_. — Derwents, 4a per bag; peas, 28 9d per bußbel ; bran, 4s 3d per bag ; flour, 18s per bag ; fowls' wheat, 2s 6d per bushel ; oheese, 2d per lb ; mutton, 2d per lb. Furniture and sundries at full prices. Impi_m_nt_— Grassmower, £3 15s. j At the Tinwald yards on Tuesday, the j 20th inst. the entry consisted of about 2500 sheep and 90 head of cattle. Fat sheep were not m demand, but young Btore sheep are sought after. The following are the prices obtained :— Fat crossbred ewes, 6s to 7s 4d ; do. mixed crossbreds, 8s Id ; 2 and 4 -tooth crossbreds, 6s lOd ; 2 and 4-tooth crossbred wethers, 7s 8d ; shorn ewes and lambß, 6a 6d. 7a 8d and 8s ; do. m tbe wool, 10s 6d ; _ -tooth mixed merinos, 4s. Fat oattle : Cows, £4, £4 15s, £5 sb, £5 12s 6d ; heifers, £3 7s 6d, £3 18e, £4 7s 6d; steers, £4 10s. We sold privately during the week 771 oroasbred hoggets at 5s 9d ; 66 hoggets, 6s 6d. Also, 123 head of mixed cattle at satisfactory prices.
