MURDEROUS ASSAULT

A murderous assault was made upon the stationmaster at Glenhuntley, a small station beyond Caulfield on Saturday last. A man who had purchased a ticket violently assaulted the stationmaslcr, and the latter was found by the guard lying insensible with his skull fractured and m a critical con dition. The man was arrested, and upon being searched the keys of the station safe were found upon him, but he had only a small sum of money m his possession.
