■ — » — . Inveroargiil, December 8. Showery weather interfered with the success of the first day of the Southland A. and P Society's Show, the attendance of the public being small. Cattle and sheep only were judged. Thejohampion short horn bull was Mr F, Ader'a Prince Imperial, the cow, Mr Caswell's Wild Rose of Sydenham. Ia Ayshires Messrs J. Russell, J. Grant and W, Rankin about equally divided first honors, and the Hon. M. Holmes and the Morton Main's Company took the same position In polled Angus. In sheep the merino champion was »hown by Mr F. W. Ibbotaon, the ewe by the N Z. Mortgage and Investment Company. In Llncolns, the only exhibitor was Mr W, Man Is ; In Leloeßters, Messrs McKiroher Bros, and Mr J. MoOroitle were about equal, but the former took the National Mortgage and Ageucy Company's Cup for points. Roraney Marsh — Hon M. Holmes scoured the championships. The Down championships fell to Mr Murray for rams, and Messrs Rowley and Hamlltou for ewea. The Hon M, Holmes waa the only exhibitor of Cheviots. Mr W, Marrls took the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy'a Cup for Bheep suitable for freezing.
