Inveroargill, December 5. The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce has reoelved Information that the Sydney Chamber approvea of their proposal that a lighthouse be erected aud maintained by the colonioa on the Auokland Islands, and will approach tha New South Wales Government on the eubject. The local Chamber, In its circular on the subject, pointed oat that five vessels are known to have been wrecked on the Islands daring twenty yearß. Out of 147 persona on board only 21 were rescuod, 109 having been drowned, while '17 died of starvation, There was also reason to , believe that several vessels never hoard of bavo been wrecked thare la recent years, and the Chamber was of opinion thai the value of vessels lost exceeded the C3Bt of kaeplng a l^hthonse on the liljands.
