WOOL SALES

Auckland, November 30,

The first [wool Bale of the season was held to-day, 384 bales being catalogued. The auctioneers had deoided to hold sales on the came day In order to enconrage competition from the South. Buyers here objected to pay a charge of 2. 6d per bale imposed for delivery, but the auctioneers, without any explanation of their ohange of front, agreed at the last moment to waive this charge for delivery, and the dispute, which has continued for some time, thus ended m a triumph for the buyers. The prices obtained equalled those of last year, and for some varieties were higher, the average being 6£d per bale. The auctions were held by A. Dockland and Hunter aud Nolan, George Blnney postponing his sale till to-morrow. Napier, December 1. Messrs Goldsbrough and Co., Limited, held tbeir usual weekly wool Sales to-day. The attendance was good and competition spirited, especially for light conditioned merino and crossbreds.
