FRESH DISCOVERIES AT POMPRII

The excavations that are being carried forward at Pompeii are giving most Interesting results. Iv tbe beginning of the month a wooden case was dug up, containing a oomplete set of surgical instruments, many cf which are similar to those Mcd m the present day. A few days later four beautiful silver urns of considerable height were found, together with fonr smaller cups, eight open vases, four dishes ornamented with foliage and the figures of animalß, and a beautiful statue of Jupiter seated on his throne. Besides these silver object a several gold ornaments were also found, _uch as earrings and rings* The excavations aro being rapidly pushed forward.
