THE MIDLAND RAILWAY
SIR J. YOGEL AS N.Z. MANAGER,
(Feom our Co-respondent.)
Wellington, November 23, I hear aothornaoivaly that fair J. Yogel has beon appointed New Zealand Managing Director of tbe Midland Railway Oomoany, and it is expected he wiii shortly prooeed to England m connection with the financial part of the business In fact it is stated that it was priuoipally oa this account that he was chosen io profereoca to the Hon B JLiichardson who was running hitn fur the position, though the latter was supposed to have more experlenco on the subjoct of railway nuaaagemnnt. It is thought that it was m coastquenoe of the fact of his appoint ment that he remarked yesterday that he was not seecing offioe, which at the time was laughed at by uainlaterß. So f»r as I can gather there will be no necessity for Sir Jallus to resign his position as a member. I understand that Government have intimated to Sir J, Yogel that they require the reeidenoe h* now ocoupiei.
