NEW GUINEA EXPLORATION.
Stdnhy, November 19. Advices from New Guinea report that the expedition to the high land of British New Guinea, under the direction of Mr H. O. Forbes, has reached the foot of Mount Owen Stanley, the loftiest mountain of the range . Mr Forbes' attendants deserted him on arrival at the mountain, owing' to their superstitious dread of proceeding m the ascent,.also their fear of the hostile natives. On return to the main camp the explorers found it had been looted during their absence.
