Wellington, November 18.

Mr R. Thompson, che member whose question caused the recent unpleasant soene m their House has received the following encouraging telegram from Mr J. Bnohanan the Chairman of the Auokland Financial Reform Association : -The Committee of the Auokland Keform \eß9ciatlon accords its thanks to Mr Thompson for his services to the cause of retrenchment, and trust that he will continue his efforts iv that direction undeterred by any temporary discouragement.

The following amongst other districts have received amounts under the Crown and Native Lands Rating Act up to the present :— Ashburton County, £2 7s 4 ; Geraldine County, £7 6s Id j Waimate County, £92 10a Id. It is generally believed that the Government will consider the best course to be taken m reference to Sir J. Vogel'g motions re the Speaker's ruling will be to give him a special day, probably after the Financial debate, on which to discuss the motions If they are allowed to come on m Supply, it will take nearly a month to deal with them all, as only one motion a day can be taken, and it is quite on the cards that some other member might be put np to propose a resolution and catch the Speaker's eyo before Sir J. Yogel. It is rumored that if Sir J. Yogel ia not successful with bis motions, he will take them to the Privy Council.
