Tho Ashbnrton Killes and Guards will parade at the Drillshed, m drill order, this (Tuesday) evening, at seven o'clock, for the usual Government Inspection. This will count as a daylight parade towards capitation, and fines will be enforced on absentees* We understand that Messrs G. D. Greenwood (present chairman), Geo. Jameson, A. Harrison, and J. Grigg are the proposed candidates for the forthcoming election of Direotors m connection with the Ashburton ! Woollen Factory. Tbe annual meeting for this purpose will take place on Thursday next, at 3 p.m , at tho Arcade Chambers. Scab has appeared m Mr G. F. Bullen's Ocaria flock, Green Hill Station, Kaikoura, Maryborough. It is confine i to this one Hook, and very few sheep Bhow signß of infeotion. The adjoining flocks bava ail been mustered for inspeotien, and Mr Foster, sheep inßpeotor, has gone to the district. There are suspicions that some scoundrels intentionally communicated the infeotion to the flock. Carmody had been commit'ed for trial m Victoria and absconded from bail. Mitchell had managed to elude the Viotorian police altogether. On Carmody were found pieces of paper done up to represent a roll of notes beariDg tbe figures £100 outside.

A meeting of Direotors of the Ashburton Caledonian Society was held m the Secretary's office on Saturday last, at 8p m. Mr W. H. Kneen occupied the ohair. — In reply to a deputation which had waited on the Committee of the Ashburton Racing Club, remonstrating with the Club's intention of holding a race meeting on Boxing Day, and thus oinshing with the Society's Sports always held on that day, a letter was read from the Secretary informing the- Directors that the Club had rescinded thsir resolution of holding a meeting on that date.— A speoial vote of thanks was unanimously passed to the ladies and gentlemen who assisted at the late annual concert. — Messrs Kneen, Anderson, Reid, Paul, MeKenzie, end the Secretary were appointed t* draft a programmo of the annual sports, (to be held on Boxing Day), such programme to be submitted to an adjourned meeting of Direotora on Saturday, 19th inst. — After passing accounts to the amount of £29 16s 9d> tb.9 meeting adjourned.
