The market rate of discount remains at $yk per cent, below the bank rate. The Bank of England weekly returns show the total reserve ' in notes and bullion to be 800,000 a decrease of during the week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities has advanced from 45 to 46 per cent. Colonial breadstuffs and tallow are without quotable change. london, NoTtmbtr 5. Consols arc ioz^g. New Zealand 4 per cent inscribed stock have declined to 98. The market rate is 3^, and the bank rate 4 per cent. Adelaide wheat, ex store, is quoted at 33s 6a per 4961b ; off coast cargoes 32s per 4801b. New Zealand wheat, 30s to 33s per ] 4961b, according to grade, Adelaide flour 23s per 28olbs. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,530,000 quarters. Tallow — Australian beef, fair average quality, 23s 6d per cwt ; mutton, ditto, 24s 6d. Wool is quiet. Prices are steady. Arrivals to date fot next sales 50,000 bales. Adelaide, November 6. Shipping wheat, 3s 2 d to 3s 4d per bushel. Flour is quoted at j£B 10s to £9 per ton. Freights to London are unchanged, with very firm tendency.
