The Altormy-G.«i<etai, g>ive notice to moVe on Tuesday mx' :— (1) That io tbe event of a redaction being made m the number of members of the House of Representatives the nnmbec of members m the Council be reduced to half the number of members of the House of Representatives, and the same proportion ahould thereafter be maintained. 2, That matters be referred to a Select Committee with a view to oonslder and report as to the beat plan by which this redaction can be effected, snoh Committee to consist of Messrs Backley, Menzles, McLean. Oliver, Pollen, Richmond, Wafcerhouse and the mover. " ArTHOBISBD BBVORTS. MISCELLANEOUSMajor Bailita moved —'* That Standing Order No. 20, of the Standing Orders on private Bills, be dispensed with m the case of the Wesleyan Methodist Church Property Trust Bill, and that the promoter* be allowed to proceed with the Bill." The motion was agreed to. Mr Shrimski moved — " That papers of the evidence m the Court m the rehearing of the Owhaoko and Kaimanawa land, *s to the withdrawal of the rehearing be printed." The motion was agreed to. Mr Stevena moved the stcond reading of the Hammond Fencing Compensation Bill. Mr Waterhonße opposed the seoond reading of the Bill, which he regarded as being merely brought m to cover the laches of Government employee!. Be moved that the Bill be read that day six months The Attorney-General pointed out that Mr Hammond had not received the money he was entitled to, and which had been awarded by a court of law. Mr Waterhouse withdrew hia amendment. The motion was agreed to, and the Bill was referred to tho Waste Lands Com' mlttee. The Courjcii at 4 p.m. adjourned to Tuesday next.
