TIMARU A. AND P SHOW.
limaru, October 26. Lovely weather and a very la<ge attendance of the general public favored the show beld to-day, under the aUßpioea of the Timaru A. and P. Association. There was a very excellent show of merino sheep, and the competition m Booae of the classes was very keen. Mr R H. Rhodes, E. Elworthy, and the Australian Land Company wore the principal prza takers. In Lincoln and Lelcesters there was also a good show. Meaara Little Bros, were the principal prize-takers In Border Leicester?, while m Lincoln*, the honors were divided between Messrs Bruce and McLaren, and Mr Max Friedlander. The show of draught horses was the beat that has been seen m Tlmaro for many a long year. The Ashburton horsea, Kelvin and Paisley Jock, ■ were passed over by the judges, the Oamaru horse, British Lion, taking the first and champion prize, Early Morning, a son of Young Banker, coming second. Kelvin's quality wai not doubted, bat he was generally considered too much ou the small tide for the fanoy of the Tltnara judges. There were some good mares shown, bat the young stock did not call for any particular notice. Thera was a large entry of light horses and hunters, and many of those shown were of a good useful stamp. The show of cattla was an improvement on that of last year, bat there was very little competition m any of the classes except Ayrshire s. The show of pigs was confined to two exhibitors, and Mr Rowe had things pretty much his own way. The Bhow of butter was very creditable, and indeed was also the show of oared meats, but there was no competition m cheese. There was a small bat good show of implements, bat nothing of a very new or novel description. Taken all through the exhibition was a very great buooobs, and the financial result, should be highly satisfactory to the Association,
