Pressure ia being brought on the Government with a view to securing the manufacture of railway material at the chief towns of the North Island, instead : of having all the principal work done at Addington and Hillside, as at present. Wellington, Nap er, and Auckland are all agitating m the matter, and it Is thought likely that the Government will be inclined to comply with the reqntißt an far as miy be practicable, The " Post " thin evening goes so far si to say that the \ Minister for Works has given a conditional promise to have the neosßnary maohinery for the manufacture of railway plant provided at the chief towns of the No'th Island. Wellington, October 22. By the Te Anan last evening Sir Julius Yogel left for Auckland, but the object of his sudden departure ia kept a close secret m order that no one there should know of his movements. His passage wai booked m Dunedin. (per press association.) Sir J. Yogel waa reported to have left suddenly for Auckland by Te Anau last night, having engaged his passage at the Dunedin office, fle is, however, still m Wellington.
