Very few members are now about Parliament buildings, m st ol them having returned home or making a tour of the Northern railway lines. Ministers are busily engaged going through the Estimates item by item, but finding some difihnlty, It Ib stated, m perfeotlng a scheme of retrenchment that will suic the views of all localities.
Considerable consternation prevails m Government buildings, the Civil Servants being exceedingly anxious as to how the propoea's of the Government will affect them.
Several more Bills are dow circulated, among others Mr Marohant'o Animals Protection Aofc Amendment Bill, the main feature of which I wired yon when the Bill was first introduced. Mr Samuel* Bill to extend and amend the law of divorce is tho same Bill sb intro duced last year. It provides that a married person may petition for dissolution of marriage on the ground of desertion, habitual drunkenneas, neglect or cruelty, the sentence of the respondent for seven years or upwards, violent assault, adultery, incurable insanity, neither party to a divorce is at liberty to marry again for a epaoa of three calendar month a after the granting of a deoree absolute.
