CORN EXCHANGE.
The followi- >£ is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, the 21st met. :—
Toe transactions m grain have mainly consisted m filling local ordere, though the export of a line of wheat by the s.s, lonic to London may be noted. This shipment and others which will shortly be made are induced by the exseptlonslly low rates of freight offering.
Wheat is still largely held, and were Bales to any great extent to be forced prices would oettainly give way. Values are as follows:- Pearl and Tuscan, prime, 3s 51 to 33 6d : Hunter's white, 3i 4d \ second quality, 3a to 3»2J; broken wheat, 2a 7d to 2j 9J.
Oats are m fair demand for local consumption, though there is but a limited shipping enquiry. Milling up to Is lid for really prime, whioh are somewhat eoarce. Heavy feed, li 9d to Is lOd ; light and inferior, Is 7d to Is 81.
Barley,— Nothing doing m prime malting. Occasional sales for seed may be noted at prices ranging from 3s 6d to 4i, while for exceptionally fine samples, grown outside the district, 5i has been paid.
Pbas.— Stocks have been reduood by shipment to London during the week. The demand locally is very limited. Blue Prussians are worth 3e to 3s 3d; feed sorts are quite neglected, and prices are nominally 2a 6d to 2i 7d.
Beans.— Farmers do not hold any large quantity, and transactions are but few and consist of small parcels ex store, Prices may be said to be 3s to 3a 3d.
Grass Seed. — Nothing doing In rye grata, the Bowiog season beiDg almost over. Farmers lots are unsaleable. Extra machine dreiaed, 3s to 3s 3d; cocksfoot is sold io emill lots, prices being still maintained at quotations lately current, namely, 4£d to 4£d. Potatoes — Saius have been made at 12a to 15a per ton at country stations; the latter price, however, is only paid for exceptional quality. The demand is very irregular.
Daiby Produce —Butter and cheese remain at. last week's quotations, The above prioei are those paid to farmers and delivered f.o b., sacks extra.
