Fires. Auckland, October 17. This morning a five roomed house m Seafijld View road owned by William Davidson acd occupied by Carl Smith, was destroyed by fire. Insured m the N.Z for £253; furniture, £100 m the Norwich Union. A nine-roomed villa near Otahohu m course of erection for Mr Symonds, of the Acid works web destroyed by fire late on Saturday Dlght. Contraotois ware lneured m the W,Z , but the amount is not known. Railway Board of Appeal The Minister for Public Works has asked the Auckland City Oouroil to nominate a third man as member of the Railway Board of Appeal. The Town Clerk has replied, asking for further information. The s-s. Mararoa. Port Chalmers, October 17. Arrived— sb. Mataroa. She left Melbourne at II a.m. on the 12th met, and had fine weather right across. (She reached Port Chalmers at 6 o'clock this morning
