LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Wednesday, October 12. After the delivery of the speeoh, the Counoil met at 2.30 p.m. LEAVE OF-ABSEnCB. A measage was received from the Governor granting leave-of -absence to Mr Wilson during the seanion. IHE JDBILBB ADDRESS. A further menage waa received embodying a despatoh from the Secretary of State for the Colonies conveying the thanks of Ker Majeoty for the loyal address forwarded by last Parliament of New Zeitland on the oecaat n cf - the Queen'e Jubilee. 1
• MISIsrPBIAL STITEMJSNT The Ano-ney-General announced his aNd Mr Stevens' acceptance of office nnder the present administration, and intimated his intention next day to state to Counoil what course the Government would pursue m conducting the business of the oountry H during the preaent Besalon. He intimated 1 that the seaßion would only be continued sufficiently lone; to carry through the more urgent measures of the Government. ADDRESS IN R' PLY, The Attorney General gave notice of his intention next day to move-- "That Major Balllle and Messra Holmes, Oliver, Birniooat and the mover be appointed a Committee to draw up the Address In ) Reply." NOTICES OP MOTION. The Attorney-General gave notice to movo — " Tfrst M*jor Baillie be appointed Chairman of Committees dnring the r session." Notices of motion for the appointment , of the uaual Sessional Committees were given,. The Conncil adjourned at 2.40 p.m. to ■ next day.
