CORN EXCHANGE.
» The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, Ootober 7th, 1887 :— There are but few changes to note m tho grain markets. Outside orders are scarce, and the London prices leave no margin for shippers, at the Bame time holders are firm m their demands Turing the week considerable business has been done m potatoes, owing to Tasmanian vessels being quarantined on account of the smallpox scare. Whkat. — Little business is being transabted owing to the absence of outside olders, and local millers holding aloof, anticipating lower prices. Holders are firm at 3s Id for Hunters, and 3s 5d to 3s 6d for Tuscan and Pearl. Small lines of chicken wheat, both whole and broken, are quickly taken for local purposes at last week's quotations. Oats. — Small orders continue to arrive, but generally the market is ffiatt t although stocks are gradually becoming less. We quote heavy milling at la lid ; and short feed, Is 9d to la lOd ; Danish and Tartars at Is 7d to Is Bd. Barley.— Tdis trade is chiefly confined to seed parcels, which are moving off at 4s to ss, according to quality. Beans are slightly weaker, and may now be purchased at 8s to 3s 2d. Peas are dull and hard to quit at over 5s for Blues Ryegrass. — Only small parcels are being placed at 3s to 3s 31 for roachinehressed lines No demand for farmers lots. Potatoes. — A brisk demund opened at tho beginning of the week, and considerable quantities were placed at Bs, and have steadily increased until now, when 12s is readily given at country stations, within the 12 miles radius. Dairy Produce.— No market. Old stocks are almost uusaleable. Fresh butter quiet at fid. Cheese has no demand, The above quotations are those paid to farmers, and delivered f.o.b. Lyttelon, sacks extra. ,
