On returning to the House members wero aworn In by the Clerk of Parliament and signed the register. TUB bPEAKERSHIP. Mr Lanob, after eulogising the excellent , rulings of Sir Manrioa O'Korke daring his tenure of the office, to which he attributed the high position hold by New Zealand amongst the Parliaments of other nations, proponed Sir Maurice O'Korke as Speaker of the 10th Parliament of New Zealand. Mr Pearson oecoqdod the motion, observing that it was to Sir Maurice's efforts mainly that the high tone which had always characterised the New Zealand Honso of Representatives was due. The Speaker elect was then oonduoted to the chnir and returned thanks for the I ouor conferred upon him, bir Julius Yogel offered his warmest congratulations to Sir Maurice O'Korko for hit re-election no Speaker of the House cf Representatives for the fifth time. Mpjor Atkinson also congratulated the Speaker on his ro-olection. AIJOURNMBKT. Sir Jnlim, m aooor dance with Major Atkinson's wishes, moved theadjeutnment of the Houie till Tuesday evening at 7.30.
