Inveroargil, Ootober 6.

The Borough Council, at a meeting tonight, severely censured the Oontral Fire Brigade for its refusal to go to the fire which destroyed MoOallnm'a sawmill on Wednesday morning, on the ground that the building was outside of the town* As a matter of fact the mill wu on the road surrounding the town, half of which Is under the jurisdiction of the borough, and the brigade could have dons all that was required from the side of tat road. There seems to have been some mtrander • standing as to the Council's instructions re suburban fires on the part of the Brigade. McCal'um and Oo have handsomely remunerated the Southern Brigade for turning out when asked. The firm intend rebuUd'Dg the mill.
