[reutb.b's telegrams— copyright.] London, October 6. A special meeting of the Dublin Corporation has been held, at which it was resolved that Mr Sullivan, the Lord Mayor, who is summoned to appear to appear to-morrow on a charge of publishing m the newspapers "United Ireland " and the " Nation " reports of the doings of the suppressed branches of the Irish National League, should, attend the Police Court m his robes of State, and be attended by the Aldermen. London, October 5. A deputation from Kidderminister has presented Mr Gladstone with a handsome carpet. They congratulated h|m on his Irish policy, and condemned the repressive measure adopted by the Government. Mr Gladstone accepted the presentation, and m thanking them for the gift said, though he had suffered a smashing defeat at the elections of 1886, yet the recent elections indicated that public opinion was rapidly changing, and he was hopeful of soon returning to power. The secession pf Mr Goschen and other Liberals had tended greatly to weaken the Liberal party, but those gentlemen were now placed m the most deplorable position, being connected with the Conservative party. Referring to the Jrish question he said the settlement of the difficulty would be speedly arrived at, and he would be delighted if the Tories forestalled the Liberals m bringing about that settlement.
Mr Bright has published a letter, m whicn he says it is necessary that Irish tenants should be freed trom the suspicion that they had entered into a conspiracy to encourage dishonesty and crime.
