♦_ Auckland, October 6. The case of G. khodes v J. Kerr, which has ocoupied the attention of the Supreme Court for the past six days, terminated yesterday. Plaintiff purchased from Kerr the patent rights of the Hooker Incandescent Light for the province of Auckland, paying £100 down and giving a promissory note for £400 He now claimed that the agreement be declared void on the ground that the purchaee was m&de m oonaeqoenoe of mie representation. Mr Justice Ward, m his sum ming np, laid nineteen ieanes before the jary, who foand for the p'aintiff. Judgment was given for plaintiff that trie agreement be declared void, defendant to pay plaintiff a further Bam of £39 16j 31 damage* with o )Bts on the higheßt aoale. Leave was reserved to defendant to more for arrest of judgment or for a new trial. Dr Dargavillo was sued at the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day for a claim- of £5, balance of account alleged to be owiog for services roadered by Mr Hodge in.the Auckland West election of 1884. Mr Hodge had acted as scrutineer, and It was deposed m evidence that £5 was the general pay for the duties of that office. Plaintiff was nonsuited. Wellington, October 6. At the City Council to-night it was stated another writ for compensation for loss of foreshore rightß had been served on the Corporation. The claimant is Mr A. •Sample, aud the amount £870. The Com* mitte brought up a report re the eleotrio lighting of the B'.reeta, m which they said they had an off*r from Mr W. Prince, of Dunedin, to lend the Corporation one dynamo for the purpose of experimenting, estimating the cost to be between £60 and £70, the Council to erect the necessary •pp'Unces. The Council adopted the report. Grbymouth, October 6. The Chriatchurch mail ia still detained beyond the Bealey. Dunedin, Ootober 6. The annual horse parade of the Otago A . and P. Society was held to-day. The entires owing to the absence of mares, being smaller than last year. Not many horaes were sold afterwards, the only Bale of importance being the colt Glasgow Ge^rdie, to Mr O. Wood, Hawera, for lOOja.
