ASHBORTON LIVE STOCK MARKET
♦ 1 Messrs Matgnn and Co. report upon the live stcck market for the Ash burton district, for the week ending 23rd September, 1887, »s follows, viz. : — On Tuesday, at th<3 County saieyards, ABhburton, we held our weekly Bale of live stock. In sheep the entry was an average one, about 5500. In cattle the entry was small, and no pigs put m an appearance. The attendance of farmers, dealers and others was above the average, notwithstanding which the sale throughout could not be considered a satisfactory one to vendors. In sheep we yarded 2771, and oar principal salas were as follows : —27 fat abeep, 11b ; 125 do, lls ; 69 do, lls ; 17 do, lls 6d ; 54 mixed crossbreds m lamb, 8< ; 180 crosahred hoggets, 63 ; 172 crossbred two-tooth wethers, fat, 93 Id ; 200 crossbred do, 83 10d ; 116 merino ewes m iamb, 5b 8d ; 1150 crossbred hoggets, 5i 6d, etc In Otttle all fat were bought privately. We ■old springers, £4, £3 ; yoang-cutle, £L to £1 2j, etc. Takipg the sale throughout It was the most dragging during the last three month*.
