HORSE PARADE.
Committee of management — Messrs M. Stltt, 0. Digby, J. Hunt and R. Miller. The annual Horse Parade, ander the auspices of the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held today on the grounds of the Coucty Saieyards Company. There waa a very fair attendance. The entry comprised twenty horses, a larger number, with one exception, than has been entered m any former year, but two or three did not pub m an appearance. In draughts the show was a particularly fine one. and it was a subjeot of remark that there had never been snoh a fine display of three-year-olds here|before. The entrj|ccmprieed eleven, the first on the list being Young Major, a very useful horse whoße stock have a great reputation. Rantln Robin has been at Ghriatchurch some|yena where he has been very favorably known and his stock are highly spoken of. Royal Conqueror appeared m rather low condition, but he is well-known m this district, and his stock is said to be very good. Diplomacy Is a grand horse. He took second pr za at the last Ohristoburoh Bhow as a two-year-old and since then he haß improved greatly. He Las a fine sec of legs, there not being a better limbed horse on the ground. Kelvin is well-known m the dlatrlct. At the last Chrittchuroh show he took the Champion priz < and this year he looks better than ever. Paisley Jock is a horse well put together, but be sr ema rather too small. Sir Robert Stout, a roan horse took seoond priza last year •nd since then he has improved a great j deal. Vanquisher, is a grand oolt who last year took first prize at Chrlstchuroh as a two year old. He has made rapid strides since , and received a great deal of attention yesterday. Superior is a fine useful horse coming five yearaand we understand he has got some very fine stock. Johnny's Fancy, a Southland horse, wh ; oh waa brought up for sale at Ashburton this afternoon is well topped and haß fine bone, but would be better for a l'ttle more hair. There were eight entries m the clasi for thoroughbreds, bat two of these did not put m an appearance. Those that were shown are nearly all well-known. Johnny Faulkeris a horse with a reputation and is known almost as widely as his genial owner. Digby Grand and Macilleatbean almost everyone m this district knows, as they also do the reteran Kingfisher. By the wsy the Australasian gives a very filtering notice of a son of Kingfisher's, named Carraghmore, whioh is owned by a stationholder on the Darling Downs. Hunnington bad we understand a very great reputation as a Innter, The trotter Blackwojd Abd*Uab wm of course an object of much attention and received great admiration at the hands of everyone .
