Body Found Sanson, (September 22. The body of a man, supposed to be a Msori, was found yesterday by two Bont of a Settler in the bash, about a couple of miles from 6anson. He bad evidently strangled himself by means of supplejaok hung to thu branoh of a tree. The boity had apparently been hanging for about three weeks. The Proposed Orphanage* Wellington, September 22. The Benevolent Trustees have refused the £230 obtained from the Jubilee fete by the Friendly Societies for building an Orphanage. There are only 35 children in their oharge and the boArdlng-out system wa3 considered to be maoh cheaper and more oon^uoive to the happineis of the ohlldren. Of the 35 only 10 axe really orphans ; the rest have been deserted by their pa.enta The Rifle Association, At a meeting of the Uouacil of the Riflj Association the prize money was fixed at about £1200 for ten matohes. The raDge for the final competition will be 9CO yards. The Championship prize will be £50 with belt and gold star ; the second, £35 ; third, £25 ; fourth, £20 ; fifth, £10. Designs for the new belt, not* to exceed £t"0 in cost, will be advertised for. It was decided to hold the meeting in the last week in February. Sir "W- Fitzherbert Re-appointed. Mr Bel), Harbor Board Engineer, having demanded the name of the writer of certain alleged libellous letters in the Buller " News," the publisher has given up tbe name as that of Eugene Joseph { O'Connor. An action at law is probable.
