Geraldinb, September 16. The nominat ons for the Kangitata district took place at the Courthouse, Geraldine, at noon to-day. Considerable interest was taken m the proceedings, about 100 being prosent. Mr Joseph Satherwaite proposed Mr William Palmer, Mr Nathaniel Dunlop seconded. Mr H. R, Flatman proposed Mr S. Buxton, Mr W. S, Maslin seconded. Both expressed at length their views upon tho two candidates, Messrs Buxton and Kolleston, and the reasons for considering that Mr Boxton should be supported. Mr John Griag proposed Mr W. Rolleston, Mr R. H. Pearpolnfc seconded, Mc Grigg miking a lengthy and telling speech. The Returning Officer oalled for a show of hands. ForMr Palmer none wnre held np. For Mr Buxton 21, and for Mr Rolleston 28 Mr Flat man demanded a poll on behalf of Mr Bixfcon. The three candidates then addressed those present at considerable length, as to their reasons for coming forward, and giving their views on the I present Government and Opposition, also upon each other, with refreshing oaidour, Messrs Buxton and Rolleston were frequently applauded. Tao proceedings terminated at 1.35 p.m. A voto of thanks to the Returning Offijer waa proposed by Mr Rolleston, and seconded b/ Mr Bux too. The proceedings were m ist orderly. Nominations, Hast Coast— McDonald, Gannon and Graham. Dr A. K. Newman and W. McLean were nominated for Thordon to-day. The show of hands was In favor of Newman. A pell was demanded. Mr Seymo ir, formerly Ohairmai of Committees has apologised to Mr Mills, one of the candidates opposing him, for Picton-Waimea, for statements made at an election meeting, reflecting on Mills' connection with public bodies at Havolock. Writs are nosy being prepared against the proprietors of the "Picton Preßs." and " Nehon Evening Mail " for publishing reports of the meeting, containing statements complained of, apologies not having been yet receive! The amendment was omied by fully two to one. Mr Mac Keuzle had a discussion with the Premier lasting till midnight. At the olobo he received an ovation.
