A young man named R. S. Wilson was charged to-dny at the Polico Court with forging a oheque for £7 on the Bank of New South Wales and remanded. Prisoner is respectably connected and Is a B.A. of Cambridge. A son of Mr Aamuss at Alexandra had a narrow esoape from death. He was riding after cattle, when the horse fell baokwards into an old well. The lad lucoeeded m getting but of the well uninjured, outtiog footholes up the eide aa steps. The horse was killed. At the Compensation Court to-day Mackay Bros claimed £1152 for injury to a farmof 713aorea, near Paikaklrikl, by the conhtruotlon of the Wellington Manawatn railway. Hokitiea, September 12. The Supreme Court sessions opened today, before the Chief Justice. W. Ross was convicted of forgery, sentence being deferred ; John Williams, larceny, was sentenced to two years ; Martin Maher, larceny, was aoqujtted. This oonoludea the criminal business.
