There was a very heavy rainfall last night, with much thunder and lightning! Many of the residents waited up very latt, being apprehensive of a flood, bat the river did not rise dangerously high. There appears to be no danger or Bigns of a fl >od at present Grbywouth, September 4| Mr Joseph Kilgour, proprietor of tho Tynside Colliery, and who was the meana of selling tho Blackball Coal lease to a syndicate, recently took up some abandoned ooal leases north of Coal Creok, and sent out prospectors. They hare returned, bringing a splendid sample of coal, and state that they have found several seams of coal, each only a few chain 8 away from the other, and 6ft and Bft thick, though one of them has not been quite cleared from the top of the face to the bottom. The sample of coal is very much tho same as that of Coal Creek, and is thought to be the continuation of the Ooal Creek seam. The two proper ieß are nearly equal distance from Uroymouth. The Railway Department are taking >)tep3 to prevent any damage from tho lining of the wharf giving way. Very heavy rain fell last night and this morning, but the river is not dangerously high.
