THE BLENHEIM FIRE.
Blenheim, August 30. Mr Riohard Winter, editor of the " Marlborough Times," died thfs evening at the Walrau Hospital from mortification caused by injaries received at the latu fire At a special meeting of the Borough Council, held thia evening, a resolution ir bb moved by his Worship the Mayor and carried unanimously that it was with sincere regret they heard cf the death of Mr Riohard Winter, editor of the " Marlborough Tlmeß." The Mayor referred to the deceased gentlemtn m feeling terms, and hie remarks were supported by every Councillor. Hia death has cast quite a gloom over the town. His funeral takes place at 2 p.m. at the Catholic Cemetery. He was universally respected throughout the district by all classee of the community. Telegrams have been received here from Mr Ballance and Sir J. Yogel, the former expressing deep regret at death of so able a man aa Mr Winter, and the latter asking that a wreath should be placed on the coffin as a mark of his appreoacion of the worth of the deceased. The funeral takes place this afternoon.
