SLY GROG SELLING.
Auckland, August 27. Numerous complaints were made some time ago of sly grog celling at Whangarei and other places north of Auokland, and it is said that Inspector MoGovern's ap pointmebt was m a measare due to these reports. Recently Detective MoGrtth was brought up from Walmrapa, as being less known than the Auckland detectives, And he has been working m the Waipn dlitrlot disgnised as a cum digger. As » result of thii observation, a quantity of spicituoas Ifqaocs was Beized %t the premises of H. W. Simpson, who was subsequently charged at the B.M. Oourt, Whangarlo, with selling liquor to the detective, and fined £20 and 74s oonto.
