IRISH ITEMS.
The 12:h of Jaly was celebrated by Otangemen throughout Ulster with great fetvor. The Rev Dr Kane presided over a monster meeting m B-rifaat, and man; violent speeches were made. The oity km crowded with Orangemen from the rural districts, and several skirmishes took place hetween them and the Catholics. The Eail of Erne presided over a meeting at Lurgan, whore everything passed off peacefully. Mardtr and Whiteboy cases have had to be postponed at the Kerry aas'z^e, it being impossible to obtain a jury to do its duiy. Judge O'Brien issued a caustic address on the sub j act to the Kerry people. The freedom of the city of Dublin was on July 220 d conferred on Mr Wm O'Brien, editor of the "United Ireland," •nd the Hon Patrick Oollina, of Boston, Mail. Three members of the Irish Constabulary resigned on July 26th as a protest against the Coercion Bill. One, Underbill, who came from Nass, was reoeived with an oval ion at Dublin. Mons'gnor Peraioo, the Papal Commissioner to Irelsnl, dedicated a chapel at Wloklow on July 17th, He praised the patriotism and religious feeling of the lilih people. Archbishop Wa'sb, of Dublin, is endeavoring to induce the Government to suspend further evictions m Ireland unti the Land Bill is passed by Parliament Be inggests that a conference on the subject be held by the leaders of the various parties. On July 27 the Board of Guardians of Limerick declared the Poor Law Ualon bankrupt. The aum of £9000 is due on contractors for enppUes to the poor. The banks have refused to cash cheques of the Union, and rates not having been paid the Board of Guardians have ordered that legal action be begun to recover then?.
