A MARVEL OF ENGINEERING
; -♦ ' Philadelphia, June 27th.— Two thousand ' people saw a wonderful achievement m engineering skill at Holmesburg Junction, [ on the New York division of the ' Pennsylvania Railroad yesterday. Thirty 1 men moved a distance of fifty feet the | iron bridge, weighing 1,600 tons, that ' spans the Pennyhaok, and they acoomp- | lishei the great task m the remarkable ' time of eleven and a half minutei. The 1 engineers of the road had long been ' making preparations for tbe work of yen- ' terday. Some time ago the c rop»ny 1 decided to build a four-arched stone ' bridge m the plaoe of the iron bridge 7 The latter had to be moved west fifty > feet that it might be used until the stone 1 bridge shou'd be built and ready for use. ' The bridge was moved by means of orabsj fc over greased rails placed on a strong ■ trestle-work. Half an hour after the " bridge had bean out loose a heavy con | struotion train was run over the structure, 1 and soon after the Philadelphia expresi " dashed across.
