Two men who have just been arrested by the Paris police had, the " Standard " correspondent says, worked out a system with a view to breaking the bank at Monte Carlo. They published a pamphlet m which they demonstrated to their own satisfaction, and it appears to that of a very large number of dupes, tha ., if applied, a million francs could be made at roulette m a very short time with a capital of twenty-four thousand francs. Being circulated all over Europe, this pamphlet resulted m its authors receiving thousands of letters, many of whioh contained money for the trial of the system Before very long they found themselves In possession "of about 60,000f., and proceeded to Monte Carlo to break tho bank. Unfortunately for them, their first day's gambling did not end as they had anticipated, for instead of having won a million they had lost 24,000f. After that experience their faith m the mn r allibility.of thoir system seems to have been wrecked, for they returned to Paris with the remaining 36, 000f., and were arrested as common swindlers.
