The Dortbern Steamship Company's i,B- Macgregor which broke down off rTaitara on Friday, losing her rudder, ternpoat and prope ler wat sighted by he Gftirlooh and the latter m response to Ignals of distress bore down and took the litabled steamer m tow. About 40 miles rom Manakau she was forced to leave eff owing, the hawsers having been carried way and fouled the Gairioch'a propeller. ?he Galrlooh stood by the Maogregor till laturdsy forenoon, and then left for )nehunga to get more coal and fresh lawaers leaving the Macgregor appareotly »fe under canvas On Sunday mornog the two Btetmerj? Galrloch and itnffa left to search frtf "the Macgregor >ut returned this morning without finding my trace of her. It is believed that the tfacgregor would drift towards Kaipara, >ut the Gair'och went as far ac Kaipara Beads without sighting her, while the Jtafia went thirty mileß out to sea Great mxiety is felt. On account of the high rind and sea the Gairloch was unable to aice the passengers from the Macgregor Its the wind is from the land, there ia no [anger of the steamer going aßhore. The Itaffa again started this morning to search tor the missing steamer.
