Matson and o>. report upon the live and dead sock mirktt for the Ashburton district for the week ending August 9.h, as follow a :— On Tuesday at the Aahbu ton Y^rds we hald our usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle, and pige, There was a fair entry of sheep, amounting to over 4000, and about 30 head of cattle. The attendance was up to the average, but the fa'e laoked animation throughout, and several lines were tamed out unsold. The principle e»le were fit orosßbrod, 9, 3i ; 10a 6i, lls 31, and 12i ; crossbred lambs, 4» 4i to 6j 6i ; tw>.-' toith croßßbred wethers m fair condition, 10a Gil ; ditto ewes 9« 63 ; mixed croßßbred, P« 63 ; aged merinos, 3a 10d;crosBbred esves iv l^mb, 7<j to 8 64 In fat cattle a vety dull sale ; and apringera of not very good quility from £4 10 to £5
