TEMPERANCE MEETING AT WATERTON.

On Wednesday evening last a most successful Gospel Temperance Meeting was held m the Library Hall, vVaterton. There wore about eighty persons present, and Mr G. Gilmour occupied the chair. The meeting having been opened by singing a hymn and prayer, the Chairman delivered a short address, illustrating the great amount of good that was being done by those meetings m the cause of Temperance. Mr Oaborne sang m his usual excellent Btyle, "We're going to clear the way." Miss Timms recited very nicely 11 Temperance is n.y rule," and Mr Dukers gave a temperance song m a very pleasant way, and had to respond to an eio>re. Mr GK Andrews, of Ashburton/gave a very interesting and instructive address on the political aspect of" the liquor traffic. Mr U. Gilmour's reading, " Lt»ay Jim," created much amusement and he baa to respond to the call for another. Mr Dunn's song, "Old John." was well received, as was also a reoitation by Mb a H. Houstoa. Master G. McConnell taag a. favorite piece, "The Wee Ragged Wean." and was heartily encored. Mies A. Donaldson recited her piece remarkably well. Mr Oaborce read a well composed piece, entitled "Good Wivee," which attracted much attention from the lady portion of the audience. Mr G. Gilmour Bang "Friends of Temperance," and a recitation by Mies Pearson brought a very pleasant meeting to a clobo.
