(Beuxer Telegrams— Copyright) London, Aognst 4. The Directors of the Bank of Ehg^ land. to-day raised the rate of discount to 3 per cent. Consols have declined by to ioi}£. New Zealand inscribed stock remains at 10s. The Bank of England's reserve .m notes and bullion is ;£ii,ioojO.oo, being less than last week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 38 per cent. The Bank rate of discount to-day was raised to 3 per cent, and the market rate to 2y 2 per cent. No changes are reported m colonial breadstuff's and tallow. The stock of tallow m London to-day is 15,300 casks. ; Adelaide, Aagost 5. Wheat is depressed, and is selling at 3s 9d to' 3s xod per bushel. Town flour is. 5s to ,£9 15s per ton. Countrytrands, ;£8 5s to ;£8 10s per ton. The s.s. Salize, from Marseilles, brings Mauritius news to July 20th, on which date Messrs Ireland, Fraser and Co. report that the previous estimate j of the sugar crop is maintained. The exchange on New Zealand, at sixty days' Bank credits, was 43 per cent. The stock of sugar m hand was 10,400 tons. The exports this season to New Zealand amount to 3000 tons. There were no clearances nor engagements for New Zealand during the month. Sydney, Augnst 4. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 3s 3d to 3s 6d -, New Zealand oats, 2 s to 2s 4d ; and maize, 3s 3d per bushel. The market is glutted with all sorts of produce.
