Oathe*— There was a small supply of fat cattle, and the majority were of nice quality. ' Trade, however,' showed no improvement; and. last week's zates were cot obtained without some persuasion on the part of sellers. Good steers sold from £$-to £7j apd. heifers at abont the aarae fate, which was equivalent to 15i to 17a 6d per 1001 b for middling to prime beef. Store cattle were m few numbers, and (he bnjlaeijs, done was Insignificant. Dairy stock was dull of sale, and the few coirs entered brought lower rates compared with those of a month ago Two or three really good springers sold at £7 to £8. Shmp.— The fat sheep market was very heavily supplied althongh some advertised lines did not come forward. The Directors of the Baleyardd Company have at last given In to the demands of vendors, and appointed an offiolal to draft the fat And store sheep, and pen each m Its proper department of the yards, wbioh will greatly increase the convenience of the trade. A little dalnees was apparent •t the opening of the sale m the biddings for medium qualities, bnt this soon wore off, and the average prices of the day were qoite rqnal to those of last week, freez?rp, Indeed, being sometimes a shade dearer ; mud the market dosed strong for all descriptions. The principal feature of the cheep market Was again the grand line of crossbred wethers from Mr Hawdon, Westerfield, which realised Us lOd to 17s 2d each. The market was topped by the Bangor crossbred wethers, the first pen of which fetched 18s, and the lighter pen 16s 9d. The Racecourse Hill and Mr 0. Ensor's crossbred wethers were also exceptionally good ; and Mr Knight also lent In some grand merino wethers, which brought the high figure of 14s 9d. Best crossbred wethers sold at 14a to 18s, lighter 10a to 13s, two-tooths 9j to 14) ; good merino wethers 7s to 10s, extra to 14s 9d. We quote best crossbred mutton fti 2£d per lb ; middling to fair 2d to 2hd; prime merino, 2£d to 2£d ; ordinary 2d. The transactions m store sheep were on an Important soale, and very firm prices were obtained. Among the principal sales were 775 2-tooth merino wethers at ss, 150 crossbred lambs at 53 6d. 150 2 and 4tooth ercssbred ewes m In lamb at 7a lid, 135 6 and 8-tooth do at 7s 2d, 70 mixed svges do at 8s 6d, 86 mixed 2-tooth crossfereds at 7« 9i. 313 mixed 2-tooth croasbreds at 6s lid, 242 4 and 6- tooth crosabteds wethers at 7s 6d, 300 orossbreds, mixed ages and eexea, at 11s, and 100 do «t ?a Cd. Fzas.— Baoon qualities are now coming forward m small numbers. Competition wea*brlik, and late prices were fully opheld. The best beaconers brought fully eqaal ti 4^d per lb ; lower qualities 2£ d to 3d per lb. Porkers also sold well.
