A general meeting of the various Presbytttun Charch Committees was held on Monday evening last at Springburn, when it tkti decided to ask the Moderator to appoint s> minister for the bills distriot, comprising tfethven, Alford Forest, Springburn, Mount Homers, and Bangitata. It may be mentioned that one gentleman's name waß spoken ©f with unanimous desire for his appointment, pending arrangements for the erection of a manse on the ohuroh site at Springburn, cow the property of the trustees. The question of funds being mooted, it was resolved to call a special meeting for each distriot to we what could be prooured towards its erection,, should the issue prove satisfactory. With regard to money matters, it is confidently anticipated that an appointment will bt mad* giving universal satisfaction. The EtT Beattie assisted greatly at the meeting. VIDLiGI BITILIMKNTS. The sum of £25 hai been granted for the fMßpose of forming necessary roads through these lections, Mr W. T. Chapman having mads application for the same. This grant might have been supplemented by one from ths Boad Board, but the late floods have made costly repairs necessary generally, therefore it could not at present be done. It was resolved to expend the said grant, separate tenders being advertised of different lengths of road. Mr Chapman and the Surveyor, Mr E; Cooper, to form a committee of management, the work to be passed by the latter m his official capacity. Tenders to be open to the public, but resident settlers to have preference, all other circumstances being tqual. Thus an important work will be executed through the agency of Mr Chapman, tnd settlers are delighted at the spring ap of their comfortable holdings. •SkiUOH.'a BBIDGE TEBIUCE.
