A NEW MARRIAGE SCHEME.

« At a recent wedding reception m South Carolina, a young lawyer begged leave to offer a new soheme of matrimony, which he believed to be beneficial . He proposed that one gentleman m the company should be selected as president ; that this president should be duly BWurn ti keepeeortt all communications that should bo forwarded to him m hla official department that night, and that eaoh unmarried gentleman and lady should write his or her name on a piece of paper and under it the Dame of the person they wish to ' marry, then hand it to the president for 1 inspection, and if any gentleman and lady had reo : prooally chosen each other the president was to inform each of the result, and those who had not been reciprocal m their choice kept ci tirely secret. After the appointment of the president, communications we*e accordingly handed up to the chair, and it was found that twelve youDg Indies and gentlemen had made reciprocal choices, but whom they had chosen remained a seoret to aH but themselves and the president. A person passing through the same place a few days ago was informed that eleven out of the twelve matches had been solemnized, and that tbe young gentlemen of eight couples of the eleven had declared that their diffidence was so great they certainly should not have addressed their respective wives if the above scheme had not been introduced.
