Auckland, June 18. A fire took plsce at Oliphant street, Ponsonby, last night, and destroyed two four-roomed cottages, owned by Adams and Grovett respectively. His Honor highly complimented Mr Skerratt on bis able defence of his client, bat reduced the costs applied for to 25^s. The Official Afsignee's solicitor's costs of 40gs were allowed, and Skerratt had applied for the same amount.
