Major Atkinson before his Constituents
Hawbba, July 15. Major Atkinson addressed his constituents on local matters last night, justifying his action m reference to the New Plymouth harbor, the Stratford Railway and other subjects of local interest. Ii was the largest meeting ever held la Hawera. At the conclusion a vote of thanks and confidence was declared oarried by one vot?. The meeting was lively but orderly About one fourth of thote presented voted. To-night Major Atkinson speaks on oolonlal matters.

Fire at Palmerston. Mr David Graham's batcherjr, Palmeritoo, was burnt down yesterday. Mrs Graham was badly burned. Insurance, £100 m the Standard.
