There h. 3 been bid weather since and it is believed the vessel is stiil Jyin* there. Drawing Ca:e. Two fishermen put, off m a boat from the old pilot station at the heads yesterday affernoon, and when htlf a mile from the shore the boat caps zed. Charloß Day waa drowned, aud the other man, name unknown, was rescued groatly exhausted. Day is a Bingle man and haß no relation m the colony. The body waa not recovered. Found Dead. Greymouth, Jiriy 5 John Sanderson, a miner, 70 years of age, waa fouad dead m bed at Moonlight yesterday. He had beea ailing lately. A Hoax.' Timaru, July 5 heit night word was received here from the telegraphist at Temuka that a vessel was firing signals of distress off MUford. Captain Webber, harbor master, with the Rocket Brigade, etc , went i& m tbe tu^ Titan at 9.30 returning at one this morning. He reports that there wea no vessel about and that the whole thing was a mistake or a hoax. How it originated will probably be known m the course of the day.
