THE SALVATION ARMY.

TO THE EDITOR. 5 IB, — Will you kindly give ma space ia your valuable paper to make a few remarks m reference to the Salvation Army. I was amongst the congregation on Sunday evening, and I cannot aay that I evac saw m Asbburton such a disorderly meeting, not ouly amongst tha smaller boys bat amongst men. There were one cr two who oarried their games to such a pitch, and then rose and went out making bo much noise, as to brinp; most of iho congregation to their feet to look at them, and all this while we were greatly interested m listening to one of our best speakers — a vieiting farmer. Now, , Sir, I think it is high time such disturbances were put a stop to by placing amongst the congregation ft fleteotivo unknown t) the people. I myaelf, iff, given authority, would act as auoh. I will, as it aCaods, probably be the means > of making an example of some of the' i offenders; for, m my opinion, there ii no denomination which has done snoh good : work as has been done by the Salvation Army. They have been the meani of turning many a drunkard's home into » , perfect paradise. I often wonder ftl people, seeing the good they have done, not allowing them to carry on their gervices peacefully, as at other oharehes, without being disturbed m snoh a toanda* loub manner? For, as I have said before, such conduct is aoandaloua and a great offence ia the sight of God. Apologising for taking up so muob of your valuable apace — I am, eto, •.■;.:■'• :,-■•

A Well- wisher op thb Abut.' ■
