ITihe old electorate has been diminished greafely m area, aU the country south of khei Ashbuiton river, excepting Tinwald to\fn district, being cut off and included m the new electorate of Rangitata. There is an increase by the addition of Rakaia township and the country west of the main trunk railway, formerly m the Wakanui electorate. Although the area of tha new electorate ie, on the whole, greatly reduced the populat'ou is much increased. The boundaries are : — Beginning at the railway bridge on the R»kala, follow up that river to ita source at Mount Whitcombe, thence westerly along the main range to Mount Gotha, thence to the source of the south branch Of the Aflhburton river, thence by the right bank of that river to tbs town district of Tinwald, thence west south and east around that district to the Ashburton river, thenca aronndjthe'Hampstead town district so as to iiwilnde It thence by the main tank railway line to Rakaia township, thence ground the Bouth-oasfc boundary of tha^fownship to the starting point. /''
